Wheat is an item obtained by farming or found in dungeon chests. Wheat was added to Indev on the 6th of February, 2010. Seeds for growing wheat are obtained by breaking Tall Grass. Wheat can be crafted into bread, and is a necessary ingredient for cake and cookies.
Harvesting wheat drops 0 to 3 seeds that can be replanted to produce more crops. This makes farming an easy, reliable source of food. The player should keep in mind that hopping on wheat will trample it, causing it to drop before being fully grown.(Walking on the crops used to do this as well, but this is no longer the case as of version 1.1.0) As mobs may also cause this, it is advised to fence off the area as a precaution. Wheat may be used to breed Cows, Chickens, Sheep, Pigs, and Mooshrooms via first herding them together and then right clicking them with the wheat to begin "Love Mode." Wheat may be planted in The Nether, but it will grow at a slow pace since water can not be placed to hydrate the Farmland.

[edit] Notes
- Crops can be harvested quickly and easily from large farms in a very short period of time either by redirecting water over the crops, or by using pistons. Fully grown crops will drop up to 3 seeds, but immature crops will only drop 0-1 seed.
- Wheat does not appear in the statistics page, as it appears as seeds due to wheat being a re-textured version of seeds when planted.
- Dungeon chests can contain wheat in stacks of 1-4.
- Wheat can be used to make animals follow you by holding it in your hand. The animals need to be looking directly at you to start, and afterward, if you get too far ahead of them or switch items, they will lose interest.
- Bone meal can be used to immediately mature the wheat to its last stage of growth.
