I would like to point out a few facts... I've been repeatedly told that things are done here "because that's the way it's done on Wikipedia".

Wikipedia requires a lot of things because of the sheer size of the community that supports it. The current statistics on the English Wikipedia alone include a registered userbase of 13,987,267, with 148,715 of them actively editing within the past 30 days. Wikipedia is also comprised of 23,250,401 total pages. Due to the sheer server volume an undertaking of this size produces, they have had to make some concessions to things that on smaller wikis are rather commonplace, like the use of small images in signatures.

While this wiki is definitely drawing a lot of attention and traffic from the gaming world (seems like everyone and their brother is playing Minecraft) our numbers are much more moderate that Wikipedia. Our registered userbase is 52,863 with 1,160 of them actively editing in the past 91 days. This wiki is made up currently of 18,334 pages.

In comparison to Wikipedia, Minecraft Wiki is just another very small gaming wiki. We don't have anywhere near the same server load issues that Wikipedia does. We don't have the same needs for gazillions of extensions that Wikipedia does.

While I appreciate your wishes to play with the big kids, please do not keep spouting... "that's how Wikipedia does it", let's make this about how Minecraft Wiki does it!
