These tutorials are meant to help you use texture packs in Minecraft. Texture Packs change the look of Minecraft so that blocks look different, items look different, mobs look different, etc. but they do not change the actual game play. If you don't have a texture pack here is a good place to find some

1. Download a texture pack of your choice
2. Do NOT unzip the texture pack just move the .zip file to minecraft's texture pack folder (Should be at /Users/your username/Library/Application Support/minecraft/texturepacks)
3. Open up Minecraft and login
4. At the main menu select "Mods and Texture Packs"
5. Now select your new texture pack and then select done

• If your texture pack doesn't show up when you click "Mods and Texture Packs" make sure that the texture pack is still in .zip format, and that it is in Minecraft's texture pack folder

[edit] HD Texture Packs

Some HD Texture Packs require a patch to work properly, if you followed the first tutorial (above) and you get an error when you try to play Minecraft you might need to patch it for your texture to work. You should only follow this tutorial if you tried the first tutorial and you are getting an error when you try to play Minecraft. (You may want to back up your saves first)

1. Download MCPatcher
2. Run MCPatcher using the instructions listed on its forum page (READ THE WHOLE POST)
3. Now make sure your texture pack is still in the Texture Packs folder
4. Open Minecraft, log in, click Mods and Texture packs your texture pack should be listed there
5. Click your texture pack and you are ready to play

[edit] Windows

1. Download a texture pack, you should get a .zip file
2. Open the folder, in which you downloaded the file
3. Copy the .zip file
4. Open Minecraft
5. Click on "Texture Packs"
6. Choose "Open texture pack folder". This opens a Windows Explorer window.
7. Paste the file in the actual directory
8. Go back to minecraft, the texture pack should now be listed and you can activate it by choosing it and hitting "Done".

1. Download a texture pack, you should get a .zip file
2. Open the folder, in which you downloaded the file
3. Copy the .zip file
4. Go to %appdata%\.minecraft\texturepacks in a file Explorer
5. Paste the file into the directory
6. Open minecraft
7. Go to "Mods and Texture Packs"
8. The texture pack should now be listed and you can activate it by choosing it and hitting "Done".

[edit] Linux

1. Download a texture pack, you should get a .zip file
2. Open the folder, in which you downloaded the file
3. Copy the .zip file
4. Open Minecraft
5. Click on "Mods and Texture Packs"
6. Choose "Open texture pack folder". This opens a filebrowser window (the filebrowser depends on your configuration).
7. Paste the file in the actual directory
8. Go back to minecraft, the texture pack should now be listed and you can activate it by choosing it and hitting "Done".

[edit] Direct method

1. Download a texture pack, you should get a .zip file
2. Open the folder, in which you downloaded the file
3. Copy the .zip file
4. Type ~/.minecraft/texturepacks/ in your filemanagers address bar or in the console.
5. Paste the file into the directory
6. Open minecraft
7. Go to "Texture Packs"
8. The texture pack should now be listed and you can activate it by choosing it and hitting "Done".
