Nástroje jsou předměty používané hráči aby při jejich držení prováděli činnosti rychleji, ke sbírání materiálu nezískatelného rukou nebo pro provádění nových činností. S vyjímkou hodin a kompasu, se nástroje nekupí (nestackují) v inventáři.

Pickaxes	Sticks + Wood Planks or Cobblestone or Iron Ingots or Gold Ingots or Diamonds		Required to mine stone-related blocks, iron-related blocks and ore.
Shovels	Sticks + Wood Planks or Cobblestone or Iron Ingot or Gold Ingot or Diamond		Used to dig dirt, grass, sand, gravel and snow faster than by hand. Shovels are required to dig snowballs.
Hoes	Sticks + Wood Planks or Cobblestone or Iron Ingots or Gold Ingots or Diamonds		Used to till dirt and grass blocks to prepare for crops (carrots, melons, potatoes, pumpkins, wheat).
Flint and Steel	Iron Ingot + Flint		Used to create fire.
Bucket	Iron Ingots		Used to collect and transport water, lava and milk.
Compass	Iron Ingots + Redstone		Points to the player's original spawn point.
Maps	Paper + Compass		Will create an image of an area explored while held. This can be used for path-finding.
Clock	Gold Ingots + Redstone		Displays positions of the Sun and Moon.
Fishing Rod	Sticks + String		Used to catch fish. Can also be used to pull mobs and other entities.
Carrot on a Stick	Fishing Rod + Carrot		Used while riding pigs to direct them.
Shears	Iron Ingots		Used to collect dead bush, leaves, tall grass, vines and wool from sheep. Also breaks leaves, wool, and cobweb faster than by hand. Shears can be used to collect tripwire without triggering a redstone pulse.
Fire Charge	Blaze Powder + Coal/Charcoal + Gunpowder	3	Can be shot out of dispensers. Also can be used to create fire and to light blocks and entities on fire.

I když zlaté nástroje těží rychleji než diamantové, mají pouhých 33 použití. V porovnání s 1562 použití diamantových nástrojů, jsou nepoužtelné, což dělá diamantové nástroje celkově lepší.

• Pokud přepnete z hodnotnějšího na méně hodnotný nástroj bez puštění tlačítka myši těsně před zničením bloku, čas k tomu potřebný zůstane stejný jako při použití předešlého nástroje, zatímco vytěžený blok bude připočten k použití druhého nástroje. Toto platí pro lopaty, sekyry a krumpáče. Ačkoliv, v případě krumpáčů, tohle platí pouze pokud druhý nástroj může vytěžit ten typ bloku, například pro železný a kamenný krumpáč při těžení železné rudy to fungovat bude, ale pro diamantový a železný krumpáč při těžení obsidiánu to fungovat nebude. Prospěšné využití (za ůčelem ušetření času) jsou vzácné.
