Talk:Survival Test

Survival mode is going to be really awesome Users spawn in the friendly familiar Unreal Tournament 2002 style, with the differences:

-Engine, context, back-story etc. are from Dwarf Fortress, if anywhere
-limited to Win, MacOS, Android (w/ 100MB free) for reasons of Java implementation instead.....
-Taunting and status updates via new voice-in-user's-head engine RAMPAGE
-Gymnastic tank player characters can now jump one block and are 3 blocks of 4 in a level high
-No lightning gun
-One-spawn limit
-No PC frags (just the NPCs; spiders, et al.)

Transferable skills from monthly play of this game will include:

-Baby sling wearing
-Preparation of food with medium-explosive and volatile materials
-Compliant and ready-start federal-program compatible* business plans
  • which federation then..... Zion.

[Not quite so sure about those point values. The update changed them, I think. - Aexis]

[EDIT: Yep. They're new except for pigs. Posting changes + spiders now.]

Is it possible to drown in lava (staying alive by mushroom spamming)?--92.26.218.145 23:25, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Hey.

This page is about indev, not survival mode. Indev is not the only survival mode. This page should be about the survival test that is available to free players. 68.43.43.52 20:41, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

[edit] About survival

I second the Hey post, this is about the indev and possibly infdev. If no one vote against me, I may update/move this page to a proper section and rewrite the survival game properly. --FuzzyWuff 20:24, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Creative-only blocks in Survival

I thought it should be mentioned (at least just here) that with a premium account, saving a Creative map and subsequently choosing to load a game while playing Survival allows that map to be played in Survival mode, complete with blocks normally exclusive to Creative. Thus far I've only looked at Sponge. It retains its water-repellant properties, can be dug through as quickly as sand and even drops a collectable Sponge block. SteveZombie 17:09, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

  • Would be interesting to test this on indev/infdev. I never seen sponge yet on those. --FuzzyWuff 22:54, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I've now tried the same thing with Brick, Mossy Cobblestone, Bookcase and Cloth. The only one not to drop a collectable block was the Bookcase. As a side note I'd also tried this to play a Survival save in Creative. Nothing interesting there except the pre-existing Zombie mobs (three of them) that were unable to harm me, nor me them. When I'd gotten far away enough for them to de-spawn there were no other mobs to be found. Also it's possible to do using the save files available to non-premium users. If only it were more interesting I'd suggest everyone get in on it. SteveZombie 23:05, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Crafting

Can you craft in Survival Test? Drenay 20:07, 21 November 2010 (CST)

No, there is no inventory screen.  ACLECTASIS  02:23, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

[edit] End of the line

Just to remind everyone again... As of the 16th September 2010, Survival Test is no longer on the website. Is this in preperation for Beta or just to make the revised homepage less linked to?

I think notch removed it so free users can't play survival anymore. I wanted to play WITH an account though!173.0.101.7 17:38, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

[edit] The Game is Removed

Look at http://www.minecraft.net/survivaltest/ You can only see: 404 Site not Found!

The Game is complete removed!

[edit] Why Does Talk:Survival (Game Mode) Redirect Here?

Is there a reason for it? It seems overly confusing given this is the talk page for a defunct development cycle (which current Survival is anything but).

I was also going to ask why "Survival (Game Mode)" has a "Known Bugs" list with 3 bugs in it when there is an entire article for that (and way more than 3!)... --Warlock 21:18, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] a note on sheep

The added sheep-eating-grass-and-regaining-wool thing in 1.1 or so ,was a feature in Survival Test that was remove in a update.Chessandgo 00:28, 18 April 2012 (UTC)chessandgo
