[edit] Naming Controversy / Aspergite
Please do not add in anything to do with the naming issues that redstone once had. It's not informative and will only cause more issues. --WedTM 11:49, 22 August 2010 (PDT)
- It IS informative, it won't cause more issues.Supercharazard 14:33, 22 August 2010 (PDT)
- it is not related to the game Minecraft and is nothing more than trollbait. Don't put that shit back up.--Quatroking - Garble Garble! 14:50, 22 August 2010 (PDT)
Please, Explain. It is simply a piece of info about what heppened to the commuity at that time, you say "it's not related to minecraft". I ay "It has more relation to minecraft than the page on you". Give one GOOD reason why it shouldn't be there, and no, it's not trollbait, I'm sure quite a few epople would find it interesting. --Supercharazard 02:58, 23 August 2010 (PDT)
- It has no beneficial value to a player attempting to learn about the game and how it works. --WedTM 11:18, 26 August 2010 (PDT)
Neither does a page on a forumer or the admin, but there are a few of those, they are also allowed "because they have a place in the community" --Supercharazard
- are you REALLY comparing a huge flaming struggle for order, to someone of significant importance in the minecraft community? are you REALLY saying they're both the same?--Kizzycocoa 08:13, 28 August 2010 (PDT)
- The "controversy" was one big trollfest. How does that add any value to the article? It doesn't. The Quatroking page serves info on my whereabouts and activities, as well as contact info. Don't try to change the subject and stop whining about a reason why you're not allowed to add something thats made up by a bunch of assholes who felt they should've screw up half of the wiki.--Quatroking - Garble Garble! 08:54, 28 August 2010 (PDT)
[edit] Merging in Red Stuff
Red Stuff contains most of the information that this page should have, so if anyone has the time to (I certainly don't), go ahead and give merging it a try. --Allus 04:09, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
[edit] General
Doesn't take a genius to point out something isn't exactly right about this page :\ (not the real one not the discussion page)
Ghost Rock! It should be called Ghost Rock!
71.112.162.35 appears to be reverting accurate new data to old incorrect data. I would be loathe to call "vandalism" without evidence but I do hope he will stop that soon for the good of our community. --76.106.30.220 23:34, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Removed "Great Naming Controversy" paragraph
This paragraph was very unencyclopedic; not only would someone coming to this wiki looking for info on Redstone find no interest in it at all, it refers to a small isolated event that most people wouldn't care about.
Please keep this article related to the game, not about wiki vandalism and forum trolls.
[edit] Capitalization
The page and discussion seem to arbitrarily stylize the mineral as both “Redstone” and “redstone”. Which is it? Mr. DOS 11:09, 26 August 2010 (PDT)
- believe it or not, BOTH are correct. it's merely how people see it. as a subject, it's "Redstone". but, people can remove the R for an r when they cba to write properly. though, for the page, it should be capitalised :3 --Kizzycocoa 11:13, 26 August 2010 (PDT)
[edit]
Just a small request, but could you add the template Blocks on the bottom of the page? Something clear to navigate with makes the wiki look and feel more professional.
[edit] Redstone doesn't work in SMP
This fact needs to be added, but the page is protected so I can't do it myself.
[edit] Still protected?
I don't think this page has to be protected anymore. It should be clear that it's named Redstone.
- Agreed, at least make it registered only. –ultradude25 (T|C) 12:52, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
- Seconded! --DannyF1966 04:48, 11 November 2010 (CST)
- Thirded! I see some grammatical errors I must fix! BUT I CAN'T! Jaeil 05:02, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
- You know what, I'm just going to go ahead an unprotect it. No one is fucking with the other redstone pages so this one should be fine. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 23:25, 17 November 2010 (CST)

[edit] Needs updating
I am unable to supply the TNT resistance info. Follow this format: |light=..... |tntres=Not available .... If the info is not here: TNT#Explosion Strength then put "Not available". Thank you!
- Please, along with the rest of the info box. It's basicaly empty, even though all but that one value is known. Jaxad0127 00:53, 31 October 2010 (CDT)
- Also there are other things on this page that need updating, like what it can be mined with, and its luminance. gracefool 03:50, 9 November 2010 (CST)
- I added that yesterday, although I don't know its light level. –ultradude25 (T|C) 17:33, 9 November 2010 (CST)

[edit] Major Changes
I have gone through this page and made some major modifications.
The biggest change is that this page no longer has any specific block information, but is about Redstone in general(I have confirmed that Redstone_(Ore) has all the information on the ore that was previously here). This page now should serve acceptably as an introduction to Redstone and goes over the fundamental concepts which are required for moving on to more advanced Redstone circuits. I believe this was always the intention(from what I gather from links pointing here), but it still had the block infobox and some other quirks.
I have also rewritten a fair bit of it and uploaded a nice new general picture :D.

[edit] Specific Functionality
Now I'm not entirely sure if this is truely how it works, but I've noticed these things about the functionality Redstone:
- Every block has a charge (on or off, 1 or 0, true or false, etc.). The default charge for a block is off (0, false).
- Charges, when spread, spread only 15 blocks from the source of said charge.
- Wires take the charge of the block beneath them and radiate it to blocks horizontally adjacent to the wires themselves. If they is given their charge via spreading/radiation, they also spreads it to the block beneath them.
- Torches take the opposite charge of the block their base is attached to, and then radiate their charge to every other block horizontally or vertically adjacent to it.
- Switches (levers, buttons and pressure plates) act as a source of charge and give this charge to the block beneath them and any Redstone wire surrounding them.
There are a couple holes in this theory (I was just thinking of one and I forgot xD ), but I'd like some feedback on this. This may give people a much better understanding of how it actually works, so that they can innovate new designs that we can all benefit from. The current description is kinda vague and merely hints at actual functionality, and not so much about how it actually works. AnonymousJohn 15:34, 27 November 2010 (CST)
- Feel free to modify it, but I don't think your explanation is ready yet xD. Remember that wires won't spread it to a block unless they are pointing towards the block. I think 'radiate' is misleading when referring to transferring a charge from wire to wire. Also for somebody new to Redstone the concept of blocks having a charge is confusing. You might want to explicitly go over that.
- Are you sure about 'they also spread it to the block beneath them'? I don't think I've observed this except for if the wire goes vertically down the side of a block.. if I'm understanding you correctly..
- --prettycoolguy (talk) 16:39, 27 November 2010 (CST)
- Yeah, I'm pretty sure. See these photos I've taken. In the top picture, there isn't anything to set the charge of the block the torch is attached to, so it is on. In the bottom picture, a wire is setting the charge of that block, so the torch sees that charge and turns off. Also, I remembered the hole in my theory, which you can see here. If the torch set the charge of all blocks adjacent to it, then the nearer torch would be off. But it's not. I need to work on this... I'll get back on that. For now I'll work on this on my user page.
