Talk:Iron Ore

The iron ore wiki states that iron is found between "20 to 80 blocks deep". Is this calculated as below any surface block? eg. If land were hypothetically generated at the current 128 block ceiling of the game, would iron ore not be present in the bottom 48 blocks at that location? –The preceding unsigned comment was added by KADC ^{(Talk|Contribs)} 17:00, 4 December 2010. Just five minutes ago, I dug down to the bedrock and found iron ore a few blocks away from an opening to the void. That said, I suspect the article is talking about depth relative to the top of the map - it may be the chunk I dug down to was generated before some patch or other, it may be the article was written before some patch or other, or it may even be that the article is just plain wrong. Either way, I seem to find loads more iron near the surface then I do at the deeper levels, making deeper mines a bit of a waste of time (as iron ies arguably the most valuable ore). - Bomb Bloke 09:47, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

I have run 20 new maps from the introduction of the beta. I feel as if Iron has been increased in terms of commonplace. In the last few versions of alpha I was getting iron at a rate of 1/200 ish blocks revealed (at a depth of 8-11 from the bottom of the map), as opposed to the now 1/100 blocks revealed(same depth) is it just me or has someone else noticed this as well? - hiro17 1:31 am 12/28/2010 I noticed, i currently have 127 iron ingots (a full stack of 64 and a stack of 63) ICantThinkOfAGoodUsername 20:54, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Change Title to Iron Ore

I propose that we change the title of this article to Iron Ore. Seeing as the in-game tool-tip calls this block Iron Ore, I see no reason why we need to have the parenthetical in the title. --Nick2253 21:59, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

In the 1.8 Beta pre-release it seems to me like iron ore spawns more frequently. I've always thought it should spawn more often and if I'm wrong I want them to make it as frequent as it did in the seed I randomly got. -Babytoke
