[edit] Iron door glitch?

If you place two iron doors next to each other and try to use triggers to allow both to open, one of them will default in the open state instead of closed. Is this intended somehow? Is there a way around it? Wasn't sure if I should add it as a glitch yet.--SirTapTap 23:34, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Same thing happens with Wooden Doors. This video explains how you can get it to work.Toadbert
Doors are hinged at the corner. The two states the doors have are more accurately described as rotated clockwise and rotated counter-clockwise. The two states are not really opened and closed. Nekopeach 06:25, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
I personally think that this should be added to the page. Actually, I think that there should be a whole subcategory within the Doors page just for door glitches. Samness7 10:44, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] feature of glitch?

Doors being water-proof is possibly a feature for docks. Doors are needed to prevent mobs from pushing boats away. It's also possibly a feature that doors also function as locks for water transport (at least until Notch develop separate locks). Nekopeach 00:20, 1 December 2010 (CST)

[edit] Mob Trap

I suggest that the Mob Trap section be moved to a Tutorial Page for Mob Traps, because it doesn't fit into the scope of the article. Shay 21:22, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

I just found the mob trap here today; it doesn't work. The pressure plate forces the doors closed when nothing is on the plate. Latrans105 08:30, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

It didn't work because when placing the doors, you have to invert the hinges. Place a block on the right of the door you are about to place, place the door, repeat. When you have a ring of doors, head back in the trap and add a pressure plate. Then put a block above the plate so yu can fit inside but not jump. Djc1999 15:10, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Arrows fly through doors (glitch)

Found this glitch today while fooling around with my bow: firing arrows at a door from the inside, from certain distances, makes the arrows go through. It also works when firing at an angle as long as it is from the inside. I already added it to the article, but it would be better if someone else could try and reproduce this glitch on their side and also in SMP. Mokunen 20:32, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Jumping glitch

Opening a door with a pressure plate on the other side, stepping on the plate, and jumping while still partially in the door's block will result in landing on top of the now closed door. TFgreg 05:51, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit] It is an item?

Well the door is used as a block and not an item so why is it listed as an item if you look at the list of items at the bottom of the page of an item? SpaceX14 08:05, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

It's an item and a block. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 10:52, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit] No pick needed

Apparantly if you just punch the top half of the door, it will drop the door for you to pick up. I havent tried this with the bottom half yet though.Toadbert

[edit] Interacting through doors

Well, if noone else did until now, I found out that you can place, use or dig items and blocks through a closed door. Just position yourself on the block the door is placed (because of this it only works from the side where you have to pull the door open) and watch through the upper half of the door. In the feature section it says that you can punch mobs and shoot arrows through the door from a certain distance. Well, it´s not the only possibilities. - AIAS-5 01:14, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Crafting's images are lost

could anyone fix it? blocks in the table are invisible. There should be an animation of wooden planks and iron ingot, I think. (Jarv 10:09, 8 May 2011 (UTC))

And there is... –ultradude25 (T|C) at 11:08, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
well it's now displayed correctly on firefox... could be a bug of chrome. (Jarv 17:29, 8 May 2011 (UTC))

[edit] Additional use

I've found that when I'm building bunkers for Hard, placing two iron doors side-by-side a block above my standing height, then walling the window section on the outside creates a shutter system for an archer hold. Makes life simpler if you're out simply to kill monsters from the inside of your hole, and you can close the 'shutters' to wall off the outside. Blocking off the top block in front of the doors is important, or mobs will simply wander through and enter your pillbox. HoodedWraith 01:08, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] New Bug!!

I have found a new bug having to do with doors. When you click on nthe pivoting side of the door to close it, the particles are "portal" particles. As in, the're purple 0_0?

              Prisma90 15:10, 30 June 2011 (UTC)prisma90

This only works on unpowered iron doors, in my experience.

[edit] Door Farming Possible Again

As of 1.7.2, there is still the possibility of door farming using pistons. Place a door down with a block on either side and then open the door. Place a piston behind the door and activate it while the door is still open and you are in front of the door. When done properly, the piston head should be invisible and a door will drop. Also, the bottom half of the door will still be intact, pushed one block out. This can be used to create half doors that you can shoot through. The half doors will break if a block next to them is activated and they do drop a door item. CertainlyNot 04:01, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Punching Through Doors

I've had a skeleton come up to my door. (Yes it WAS facing the right way) However when I tried to punch the Skeleton through the door the door opened instead of attacking through the door. And if you wanted to know I was right up against the door. Can anyone confirm if this glitch still works, punching through doors? Waffleshark

To quote the Trivia section, "Before the 1.6 update, if you stood in the center of the tile you could hit things on the other side. Monsters, however, could not harm you from the outside." Verhalthur (talk)(contribs) 15:48, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Can't Place Doors

I am currently encountering a rather annoying problem where I cannot place wooden doors by right-clicking. I have tried placing different blocks on the sides attaching to the door, and tried placing the door from both inside and out. I have even crafted another door, but both will not be placed anywhere. Does anyone know how to fix/bypass this?

[edit] New 1.0.0 Door Feature

Alright, I've had this undone twice now, though I'm certain it's a feature. This was the original text I was trying to add as a description of the feature:

"As of 1.0.0, wooden double doors have a new method of opening and closing. When viewing them from the 'outside', right clicking the left door twice will open both doors, and right clicking the right door twice will close both of them. From the 'inside', the reverse is true - the right door will open them, while the left door will close them. "

Now, for anyone who thinks this isn't a feature, I ask you now to open Minecraft 1.0.0, place 2 doors side-by-side, and see if it does not exhibit the behavior I described. If it does not, and multiple people can prove that it does not, then I will secede. Currently I think the main reason it's being deleted is because it's being confused with a bug, one that may or may not have already been fixed. Regardless, here are quotes from others supporting the position I'm taking:

[A] [1.0.0] Template:Strikethrough Not a bug, it is a FEATURE. Its use is opening double doors without having to click both of them. [1]
Its a new feature. If you click on the left door twice both will open, if you do it again on the right door both will close.(this is if you
are outside)(I.E click on the left twice both left and right will be open, then click twice on the right and both will close.(its the left
from the outside for opening and the right on the outside for closing, from the inside its right for opening and left for closing.))(i use
this all the time now!(handy for spiders))[2]

[edit] Door Glitch

If i place 2 doors (Iron or Wood) And power them by redstone, the left opens fine but the right wont, For E.g I had a button connected to two doors through redstone, If i clicked the button the left door opens right away, but the right one waits for the signal to stop, then opens, Any ideas. [edit] Nether Portal Prison

By Putting Iron Doors facing inward on either side of the nether portal and putting a lava block on top of them, you can create a pretty effective prison. They can't leave the portal without opening the iron door, and they can't open the iron door without destroying it, and destroying it causes lava to pour down, and disrupting the portal at all will release the lava on the prisoner. You can put pressure plates/buttons/levers on the outside of the portal, you can control the use of the portal

Nice idea, it works well. But just a reminder that you sign your comments with 4 of ~.--88.110.112.192 21:11, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Getting the old door system back?

I'm wondering if the old door system is possible to get back? By old door system - I mean - One of the doors used to be closed and the other one was open when both are powered, I used the offset door to create unhackable doors, because powering the right door caused it to remain locked. Switching off the redstone would open it, therefore players cant open the doors by using a redstone torch. All replies are helpful! gergy008 21:02, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

That sort of behavior is still possible, if the door is placed correctly. If you temporarily remove part of the frame and place the door from the side, it will be closed when powered, and open only when unpowered. -- Orthotope 22:15, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
