[edit] MCLawl Chaos

I think it is time to bring back the MCLawl forks page to the Custom Servers Wiki Page. I feel there are too many and half of them barely add anything. The only they are doing is cluttering up the server software list. I doubt have of them are actually released to be honest. ~creatorfromhell

I support this, the amount of people making 1/2 commands on top of mclawl then releasing MCBlahBlah v1.0.0 was crazy. It pretty much spammed the wiki. I also don't know how to reply to these things, hence the edit. ~Jonty800

[edit] Define "Public Release"

I believe a public release is where you release the end files to the public(exe or whatever) not the source code. What is your opinion on Public Release? ~Msz9

[edit] MCLawl/MCForge

Why move it when it was MCLawl isnt linked to MCSharp, I appose this move. Separate we are fine it clearly states we are a variation of MCLawl why move it. People that used that page now cant find it via bookmarks and are getting very mad at me, please move it back. There is no need for them to be merged they are two diffrent Server Softwares and even though MCForge is based on MCLawl it has gone through some major changes that make it very different! In fact MCForge is redoing a lot of the MCLawl source and is expanding to new parts that have no connection to MCLawl. We want to make MCForge+ for beta and now if we post that on our wiki page it makes it look like a take off when it isn't. –The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dmitchell94 (Talk|Contribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

We've done this change to better state what the softwares were forked from, the old page still works due to the redirect. IKJames 00:00, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

Now the MCLawl/MCForge page has been deleted why isnt it being alowed anymore? Dmitchell94

It's due to our overhauled focus on custom servers, we're now doing the same treatment to every server if its a fork with a few exceptions for varying reasons. (Only MCLawl and SSS due to the high amount of changes over MCSharp itself) IKJames 20:22, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
IKJames: While I certainly don't mind if MCForge exists as a section of MCLawl, I completely disagree with completely removing it from the wiki. MCForge is actively maintained, updated and supported whereas MCLawl is not. Since the fork, we have added or modified over 20,000 lines of source code - similar to how MCLawl has made a large number of changes to MCSharp (this number is based directly on our internal git repository statistics - not pulling this out of thin air). We've overhauled many aspects of the software, including the UI, client connectivity, server core, heartbeat, commands, map generation, and more. We've also heavily optimized the core so it uses less RAM and CPU than MCLawl. On average, 150+ servers are running our software with up to 1,010 simultaneous users (MCForge stats at: mcforge[dot]co[dot]cc[slash]server_list). Based on this information, I don't understand how the moderators here can ignore/dismiss such a popular server with significant changes from its predecessor. Please consider reinstating information about MCForge for the Minecraft community. --Fenderrock87 22:29, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
It has a section on the MCLawl/Forks page for if you do not know, so you can put the information there. IKJames 22:35, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I do think the delete process for pages like these need to be slowed down, but this is a wiki about minecraft; wouldn't it be better to just have a summary here and point to a web page elsewhere for more info about MCForge? --JonTheMon 22:36, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

I just noticed the new set up when i had looked it just said page was deleted and wasnt allowed anymore. sorry for my jump to anger. some reason when i try to add a link to the mcforge site it sets off spam filters and so i cant point to a webpage that easily. would love if that could be fixed. we recently made a wiki about us on our site that were working on so that all the info is on our site. But i do have to say i agree with Fenderrock we have made a lot of changes in the code reworked the GUI (Still working on that some) and much more. We have changed from MCLawl almost as much as MCLawl changed from MCSharp.--Dmitchell94 4:21 PM, 4 March 2011 (EST)

Is your new site on a co.cc domain? damnit, it is. *sigh* you'll need to remove that line from Mediawiki:Spam-blacklist then, IK or some other admin. --JonTheMon 21:40, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Yea we use .co.cc because it what we got when we started and changing it to a new domain would be a pain on us and our users and it would cause update issues for our next update so we just left it be.Dmitchell94 4:47 PM, 4 March 2011 (EST)

[edit] Custom servers forks - when's it big enough to stand on the main list?

Basically the title. It needs to be discussed about. I think the best time is when the software has made their first public release and has gained a little userbase. Tyteen4a03 13:31, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

That's what they were needing to be on the custom servers forks page in the past, now we chose to merge the pages as we've changed it so we can present anything of custom servers. Soon this page and the list will be split up to allow editing of this page and submissions for additions to the list, changes and removals. Currently to get on this list will be a public release, with some other requirements when needed. (I'm not totally sure since I need to add a notice) IKJames 14:58, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] forks help

hey, i understand why you locked the forks page. but it was a miscommunication. all fixed now. but my request to you is that since i cant put this up mcforge has a new website (http://mcforge.net) can you please put that up for us. Dmitchell94 19:42, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

I appreciate the understanding, I'll end up unlocking it later this weekend (later today, most likely) I'll update that for you in the meantime. IKJames 19:54, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you and sorry i also have another question are you the one who set up this wiki? Dmitchell94 15:34, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit] MCForge no longer listed as fork

As of April 4th we would like to formally request that we no longer be listed as purely a fork. we have advanced so much and now have integrated brand new features and commands into MCForge while fixing all bugs. Are formal request is that MCForge be listed separately. We will be closing the current version slowly as our new version, MCForge+, becomes popular. I highly suggest you try it when released to see all the changes we made and so you can see we are no longer purely based from MCLawl but a completely new and evolved server software. we have made a client on which you can play MCForge servers even if minecraft.net is down. we have eliminated the lag and almost all bugs. we have added many new features no one ever dreamed of. Our new MCForge takes our old source and changes it so much that its hard to say that the new version is based on the old one other then all the commands and features. The code is practically brand new. Please review our request and give possible feedback. we will help you in any way we can to explain and show you the changes and how different the source really is. Dmitchell94 18:53, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

This needs to be clarified. When will a software be able to move from the forks page to the main page? Tyteen4a03 09:30, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Removing of my Server Software

You have removed my server software from the "Custom Servers/Forks" page stating that the page doesn't accept server software or forks that aren't available for public download.

Nowhere on that page does it declare that this is true. I would like you to refer me to the statement that says that I am not allowed to inform others of my Server Software, whether public or private. Either a refrence to this page, or a link to Terms and Conditions and a statement of which section of the Terms this falls under.

If you cannot give me these details, please can you revert the page edits you made regarding HawkServ.

HawkServ will be available for free public download, once development has deemed it stable enough for a public release.

[edit] Re: Edit War: Custom servers

The goal is to see that more servers implement it. Currently, no servers implement it. Valid info should be documented. Zenexer 03:38, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

I'm the one who monitors that section and currently to get a new column a few servers need to support it otherwise the information is useless if barely anyone is offering it or it's that important. For now we'll classify Weather under Biomes just to group it. IKJames 04:13, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Sorry

I did not knwo that i could do this i appologize

[edit] jakeanator14, Custome Servers

ok im sorry if i vandalized i was just making it better but me moving up our software was wrong i admin that but i do not understand why you got rid fo the new software anyway i am sorry

I could add the new software if you give me the details, I'm just currently taking some precautions. IKJames 03:30, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

ok Im sorry about this I will contact you when we put the download on the site

[edit] How do I add software to the list ?

How do I add software to the list ?

Firstly Givo, please remember to sign your name by using ~~~~. That way, we know who you are. Currently there is much vandalism going on, so iKJames decided to lock the article until further notice. For now if you have a custom server software that has made at least 1 release, please contact iKJames. He will add it to the list. Tyteen4a03 16:25, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Cheers Givo 02:07, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Can you please add this.

[edit] mineserver - scripting + biomes

Why has scripting been given the yellow colour, instead of green? It is functional, as was stated there, in the text... :? Secondarily, it has proper biome support, if you set the terrain generator to BiomeGen... so why is it marked as "Partial"? (Oh, and a number of biome-related bug fixes are currently in the build at github.com/louisdx/mineserver , which is currently more up to date than the one on the website.) --Nallar 16:53, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Oh, also, would a Plants column(indicating support for reeds, cactii, and trees) be good? --Nallar 16:58, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Edit request - titles

Could someone who has the ability to edit this page please lower the levels of all of the titles? The biggest titles should be level 2, but someone has made them level 1. If you don't understand what I mean by lower the title levels, then just use this source code of the page that I already lowered the title levels on (be sure to scroll down to the bottom and copy the RAW Paste Data rather than the stuff with the line numbering): http://pastebin.com/rTLQhBLy

Thanks, Oxguy3 tc 19:26, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

There are no level 1 headings anywhere on the page. I'm not sure what the problem is you are seeing. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 19:39, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
LOL! nvm me... iKJames already fixed them. Sorry. -- Wynthyst User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 19:40, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] MCQuai - Info

Hey i would like to know why the software list says that MCQuai does not have block tracking.
Also i would like to know what Entities is.
Also, could you remove 2k10 and Megahaosguy from the Developers, and then add Soccer101Nic
thank you.

-Quaisaq

Mineserver - entities?

I think they should be as "Partial", as some support is included -Nallar 22:03, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Not Mineserver, MCQuai.
I cannot edit the page myself, so can some admin/mod do it please?
Also i believe there should be a section after "Block tracking" called "MySQL", an idea?
thank you.

-Quaisaq

I thank you (the editor) for adding Soccer101nic to developers.
Now i would like to ask you to remove Megahaosguy, and 2k10.
Thank you.

-Quaisaq

[edit] Public Release of MCStorm

MCStorm is a collaboration of work from Minecraft enthusiasts who decided to create their own server version of Minecraft Classic Server, using McLawl as a basis for a new feature packed server designed to give maximum adminstrative options to server owners, operators and moderators, as well as a whole host of new inovative commands available to builders on those servers. It has been extensively bug fixed, and redesigned with admin in mind.

The software is under continual development, with automatic/manual updates, and great support!

Website: www.mcstorm.com
Forums: forums.mcstorm.com

To try and keep it brief (difficult considering the changes).

- A global chat for players to chat across all MCStorm servers.
- A seperate global chat for owners/admin across all MCStorm servers.
- MCStorm comes with fully automatic updates.
- Fantastic new look, feature rich console. Huge changes and improvements.
- Admin chat channel, Opchat chat channel.
- A whole rank/review queuing system. With commands to view queue, admin review next in queue.
- Per rank welcome messages on joining servers.
- New options for admins to hide on joining, and entering server silently.
- Anti-Grief measures, such as a new griefmap tied to /griefer command. Multiple voting options for normal players /votemute, /votekick, /votegriefer.
- Game and fun commands.
- New admin/op commands to make administering a classic server much easier. See website.
- fully featured and saved ignore system for all players.
- New building commands such as /middle /set /sphere hollow.
- Set personal waypoints and return to them using a single command
- Doors Only physics setting, in addition to the normal physics
- /tempban command now supports up to 30 days. And doesn't reset on server restarts.
- Player Portal, one portal takes players to individual maps
- New Player Group pervisit/perbuild system option

And much much more

[edit] Re-release of MCDerp

MCDerp is a minecraft classic server software based off MCLawl. It was abandoned due to Merge with MCForge, however, it is now being ressurected, and continued from were it was left. It is now at 5.0.0.0 and I would like someone on the wiki to add it back onto the list please :) The new website is http://mcderp.x10.mx

With the new update, you'll see:

An improved GUI with more information;

More commands;

A better website;

Better stability;

Alongside all this, you will be joining a nice friendly community!

Please, please relist it! Thankyou for your help, MSCake 02:41, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

You already have an account on the wiki, why can't you add it yourself?--Quatroking - MCWiki Administrator 12:20, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Bukkit?

Why isn't Bukkit on here? I'd like to see all of its metadata compared to the rest of the server software...

I think, Bukkit is server modification, not custom server. See Mods. Germanyboy 17:58, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit] How would I get started making a custom server in java? (the only language I currently know)

I would like to make my own custom server, but since none of the minecraft code can be used, I don't know where to start. I would probably program it in Eclipse so I wouldn't have to figure out all the stuff for compiling it (It becomes quickly confusing to me) and I have never really tried client<->server communication. From what I DO know, the packets have to be formatted the same way, but that's about all. Like you couldn't change the sky color or add blocks because there is no packet to handle that and therefore the client won't "understand" it.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me. (the custom server's name would be mc², as in minecraft to the second power)

[edit] Edit War

There is currently an edit war going on with BlehCraft. This is because they are ignoring the page rules. It is also hard to see how their server will actually function as their programming language is "batch" and some of their supported OS's are....well unsupportable.

[edit] How domi play another person

I want to lay my son on his computer how to i do this

[edit] MCDawn Link Error

Hey, whoever is developing MCDawn and reading this, your link is broken. You may want to look into that, otherwise you won't get any views.

[edit] Change "Beta"?

Minecraft is out of it's Beta stage. Shouldn't "Beta" be changed to something else? And what?

[edit] MCDawn, once again.

The page doesn't exist. Whoever created MCDawn, go edit the page, otherwise nobody will ever get MCDawn. Or at least make a temporary website.

[edit] Canary Link

Could somebody add the Link to Canary?

ht tp: //www . canarymod . net/

I can't add it, it either says "Solve that captcha" or "Use preview first"...

[edit] MCDAWN ZOMGEEZERS!

The page doesn't exist! Make it, or get removed!

[edit] I Cannot Stress These Enough...

Two things.

1. ABC ORDER!!! 2. Fix your links!

I cannot stress these two things enough... Please do it yourself, because I don't have the time to be fixing these anymore.

[edit] MCDek/DekemaServ Inc

I have added information regarding MCDek, a project I am working on based off of MCLawl. Please don't delete the info, I am still working on the project. Just because there is one developer does not mean there is no development.

--Dekema2 20:54, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

[edit] MCDawn Link

Hey, I'm jonnyli1125 (MCDawn Head Developer)

The site doesnt like (dot)tk domains, when we put it on it detects it as spam. Therefore, we had to redirect it to something else lol. For now, the site leads to the wiki, but I guess I could make a bit.ly link to go directly to the mcdawn(dot)tk site.

MCForge Site is perfectly fine!

MCForge is currently healing, and will be better than ever soon!

[edit] To the MCSwift Team:

Hello there MCSwift developers. It seems you don't have a link to anything for your MCSwift section in the Custom Servers table. Get one, or you'll be removed soon. Thanks.

[edit] Client version supported, last updated etc.

There seems to be a lot of stale servers in the list, some which are more or less dead for more than 2 years. It'd be nice if there were these two columns for each server: "Client version supported" and "Last update". Xoft 14:00, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Ragecraft Link

The Ragecraft website apparently doesn't exist. Either there's a wrong domain, or there's no website. Either way, you need a website to link to, or at least a page on this wiki.

[edit] MCLawl forks(2)

If you fork from a fork of mclawl, it's still a fork of mclawl. Am I right?

Also, what do we do about servers with incomplete information? Such as invalid links, false information or servers with no features added? I noticed that powerblock says it has all of the features, however, upon testing I found that the only thing it has is a map generator.

Also, a "last release / updated" section would be nice :)
