The Slimeball is an item dropped by Slimes. Its only uses are crafting Magma Cream, Leads, and Sticky Pistons.

0-2 slimeballs drop when a small Slime is killed. The slimeball cannot be thrown. As slimeballs come from a mob, they are a renewable resource.

[edit] As a Crafting Ingredient

Slimeballs are used to craft Sticky Pistons. When combined with Blaze Powder, they produce Magma Cream.

[edit] Trivia

  • Previously, some multiplayer servers used slimeballs as tokens or cash due to the Slimeballs having no crafting purpose. However, since the 1.7 update, they are used in the construction of Sticky Pistons and since the 1.0.0 update, Magma Cream, making its currency usage undesirable.
  • As Magma Cream can be harvested directly from Magma cubes, which are slightly easier to find than Slimes, and easier to kill than Blazes, using Slime Balls for magma cream is often considered a waste. However, Slimes spawn in huge numbers in swamps, and many players will have a surplus of slimeballs, making crafting magma creams easier.
  • Since slimes can sometimes spawn in spaces they do not fit in, it is possible to find random slimeballs lying around in caverns.
  • No slimes can escape from water of any depth, meaning small slimes drown in 1 block of water, medium slimes drown in 2 blocks of water, and large slimes drown in 3 blocks of water. As slimes can spawn in swamps, you may find slimeballs scattered in swamp ponds.
  • Slime Balls are obtainable through inventory editing in Pocket Edition, but are completely useless.
