Magma Cream was first added in the Beta 1.9 Pre-Release 2. It can be crafted with Blaze Powder and a Slimeball. Their use was added in Beta 1.9 Pre-Release 3, for potions of fire resistance. Potions of fire resistance and extended fire resistance can be created using this, enabling you to swim in lava and be unaffected by fire for a set amount of time, up to 8 minutes per potion depending on the ingredients. As of Minecraft 1.1, Magma Cubes can now drop Magma Cream.
