Flint is raw material used primarily for creating arrows and flint and steel. It is found by mining gravel. There is a 10% chance that a single unit of flint will drop instead of the gravel block. A tool with a fortune enchantment will improve the chance of getting flint. It is possible to farm flint by placing stacks of gravel and mining them down. This is a one-way process; there is no way of turning flint back into gravel.

[edit] Trivia
- It takes 4 1/2 wooden shovels to convert 24 blocks of gravel into flint. Using this result, it should take 12 wooden shovels to convert one stack of gravel into flint.
- It is not possible to convert gravel to flint by placing a half block underneath it, and allowing gravity to turn the stack into resources.
- Breaking gravel with a Fortune III shovel, or any other kind of Fortune III tool for that matter, drops flint 100% of the time.
