End Stone (also known as White Stone or Ender Stone) is a block that appears in The End and makes up most of the dimension. It appears as a white block with a pattern similiar to cobblestone.

End Stone is notable for having a blast resistance of 45, 1.5 times that of ordinary stone and the highest of any block that can be destroyed by explosions. It also cannot be picked up by Endermen and cannot be destroyed by the Enderdragon, and unlike Obsidian, it is easy to mine. These properties make it useful for buildings, but it is incredibly hard to obtain in Survival mode (requiring a successful trip to The End).

[edit] History

End Stone was introduced in 1.9Pre3. It originally could only be successfully mined with a Pickaxe, dropping Cobblestone like normal Stone. However, mining the End Stone with a pickaxe which has a Silk Touch Enchantment would yield an End Stone block with no nametag if you moused over it. This has been fixed as of 1.9Pre5. Prior to 1.9Pre6 there was no way to leave the End with this block in Survival Singleplayer Mode. As of version 1.0.0 you are able to leave the end with End Stone and it can be mined with any pickaxe.

[edit] Trivia

  • The texture is a cobalt Cobblestone texture with its colors inverted.
  • This block, along with Obsidian and Bedrock, cannot be destroyed by Ender Dragons.
  • End Portal Frames appear to have their lower half made of End Stone.
  • The texture for End Stone changed in 1.9 pre3 from a whiter texture to the current texture.
  • End Stone is one of the only three finite blocks, the others being End Portal Frame and Dragon Egg.
