Blocks of Diamond (also known as Diamond Blocks) are currently available in Indev, Infdev, Alpha, and Beta and can be obtained by crafting nine Diamonds together in a 3x3 square. They currently serve no crafting purpose, and function only as decoration and as a means of storing diamonds in a compact fashion. Diamond blocks can only be mined successfully with an Iron or Diamond Pickaxe. They have the same texture on all six sides.

Diamond blocks used to have a different skin. The skin was changed from to the current texture in the Halloween Update. In the old block, three textures were used.

As of Beta 1.9pre5, the texture was modified, having less drastic dark gradients in the top-left and bottom-right corners.
