Cooked Porkchop (also known as Grilled Pork), is a food item that was added in Indev. Cooked porkchops are obtained when a raw porkchop is cooked in a furnace or a pig set on fire is killed.

Cooked porkchops are often considered the easiest form of food to obtain since neither mushrooms (obtained via extended exploring or slow farming) nor extended amounts of time and attention (for growing wheat to make bread) are required to produce them.

Alternatively, burning pigs provides a slightly easier method to obtain cooked porkchops without the need to monitor a furnace. You can burn a pig by making it walk into lava, right-clicking the block under a pig with a bucket of lava, or by lighting the squares around it on fire with a flint and steel. As of 1.0 you can also obtain cooked porkchops by killing a pig with a sword enchanted with Fire Aspect.

This is one of the foods wolves can eat along with Raw Porkchop. Wolves will sit and beg when you hold a porkchop in front of them. However, wolves will not benefit any more from cooked pork over raw.

Cooked porkchops are stackable, along with raw porkchops and all other food items, making it possible to cook the full 8 porkchops per coal or charcoal. Cooked porkchops, like all food items, heals hunger instead of health. Cooked porkchop heals 4 Hunger Units and 12.8 Food Saturation, the same as Steak. These are the meats that heal the most.

  • After Beta 1.5, a pig drops cooked porkchops when killed with fire.
  • Jeb mentioned allowing the stacking of food when asked about hunger and adding more realism,[1] and later in Beta 1.8, the food items were updated.[2]
  • The texture of cooked porkchops has also been changed to a lighter color that looks more like real-life porkchops, and the old texture was used for steak. Before Beta 1.8 Cooked Porkchops used the texture of the Steak: Grid Steak.png, but was changed to a lighter one: Grid Cooked Porkchop.png.
  • As of 1.8, cooked porkchops now are stackable, along with raw porkchops and all other food items. Prior to update Beta 1.8 cooked porkchops healed 4 hearts and did not stack. (Except for in Indev, where it was possible to stack them.) Also, cooked porkchops, like all food items, now heals hunger instead of health.
  • As of the Beta 1.9 Pre-release update, cooked porkchops are no longer dropped by zombie pigmen upon their death, but instead they drop rotten flesh and gold nuggets.
