Brick is a decorative and building block that does not naturally spawn anywhere. It is mostly used to make nice looking homes and towers. Since brick is non-flammable, it is often used to make fireplaces. Brick blocks are made by putting clay in a furnace and then crafting the bricks in a 2x2 square. Brick is a durable block and resists explosions well. A pickaxe must be used to recover the resource of a placed block, but it will take under a second to break. Breaking a block with the player's hand is slow and will not yield the resource.

Clay's only current usage is to be made into bricks or clay blocks, as breaking clay drops 4 clay balls, which can then be smelted into clay bricks. The 4 clay bricks can then be crafted into one brick block. This means that for each clay block found in a map, players can make 1 brick block.

[edit] Usage

Some players use brick for creating structures and shelters, due to its high blast resistance (30), and its elegance in representing a home. Many players choose to use brick blocks for a fireplace/chimney.

[edit] History

  • Brick originally appeared with a bright red texture. Brick (Block)-Pre Alpha 1.0.11.png Upon being added in Alpha, the bricks changed to look like this: Brick (Block)-Pre Beta 1.7.png In 1.7 they were changed again to Brick (Block).png.
  • As of Beta 1.9 Pre-release 5, the brick block texture was slightly changed.
  • For a brief time, huge brick pyramids were a rare structure that could spawn in an old Infdev version. See this video, this video and the end of this video to see the pyramids and exploration of them. The pyramids were completely solid; they had no inside rooms. A strange quality about these pyramids is that if one dug under it, a layer of dirt and stone extended under the pyramid. This suggests it spawned right on top of the terrain instead of being a complete pyramid with the bottom parts underground. Pyramids were removed in later versions of Infdev.

[edit] Trivia

  • Clay Bricks are not the only kind of brick. A type of brick called Nether Brick and variants of Stone Brick do exist.
